The Trigram's not as tidy as you might think.

This morning, I read a comment about how tidy the garden appeared. That made me grin. The head-on shots that I've posted don't really show how densely packed the growing space is in places.

During each of the past four days, I've spent a couple of hours thinning, harvesting and (still) sowing those beds. In regard to clearing space, it wasn't until the Sunday that I thought I accomplished anything substantial.

Here's some recent imagery:

Would you believe that I still have "one more thing" to plant? Nasturtium.

Meanwhile, at the back of the backyard...

...the plants and seeds that I deposited in the berm have established themselves.

I created this earthen border with the soil that I removed to make the Concentric Garden in 2007. I scattered flower and grass seed along its length, but it didn't green over in the manner that I hoped for.

Last fall, I covered the whole length with leaf mulch. Now things are quite verdant. Barley is jumping out all over, the burdock and wild carrot are almost a solid mass, and many more raspberry canes have emerged.

Toward one end of the berm, where I originally planned to grow potatoes, I've planted several Datura and Brugmansia instead. A few other nightshades have found a home over there, as have some thistles that would have been mowed over.

Behind the berm, I made five mounds for squash and watermelon, with the former framed by beans and corn.

An overview of what's growing follows. Don't try too hard to make out what I wrote. Since it's my garden, the notation is only supposed to make sense to me.
