The summer season is ending,
but there are still events to attend.

I took a long walk from Milwaukee and Lawrence to Lawrence and Clark yesterday evening. Along the way, I took note of numerous wild plants that have browned, peaked and gone to seed. Soon, there will be almost as much to do as there was in March and April: picking fruits, collecting and cleaning seeds, clearing out beds, planting winter vegetables.

On that last point, it's actually past time to start sowing for autumn.

But that's not what this post is about. Because seeds and fruit are becoming abundant, I wanted to share some news from Nance (who was recently profiled in a Reuters article):

**SEED ARCHIVE swap 'n' store and harvest potluck**

sunday, october 25 -- do not come empty handed!
(but don't grab handful after handful, either -- Ed.)

bring well-labeled, viable seeds and something to share with others!
(thorough labels would include common name or, preferably, botanical name; location grown; date of harvest, or at least the year; cultivation tips)
