I've told you what I can do. Read a bit about who I am.

My name is Damon Taylor. I grew up in a small town in Ohio that's still flanked by farms, even though many of the open spaces from my youth have been covered with malls.

I had a fascination with nature and wildlife when I was young, but that sentiment was mostly lost by the time I became an adult. I moved to the Southwest for a few years after college, and that's when my awareness and attention to nature was revived.

I began to garden -- for myself and in my work with AmeriCorps -- in 2000. My first project was a flower and vegetable garden outside of an inner-city rec center. It was an abundant success, even though I hadn't ever planted on that scale. I led or participated in similar projects while working as an educator in Seattle. I've also taught in Qatar, Taiwan and South Korea.

In my own time, I study agriculture methods, ethnobotany and natural medicine to broaden my knowledge and skills. I'm offering The Backyard Harvester service so that I can do what I find most fulfilling: teach about and work with plants, as well as promote ecological awareness, good health and self-sufficiency.
